Community Involvement
Community Involvement
Shannon’s Father was a life-long volunteer, and he taught her to give back wherever I can, because of this for the past 20 years Pet Parade Plus has been supporting many animal and human charities in and around the Kingston, Amherstview and Odessa area. Shannon has been an active member in her community she was also the chair woman of the Loyalist-Cataraqui Community Association for a period of time.
As a proud Kingstonian, Shannon believes in giving back to her community, especially the animals. She is proud of the volunteer hours herself and her team have given back to the Kingston and area community, and I look forward to 20 more years of being able to volunteer on this amazing city.
Below you can read about our company’s community involvement below:
Hungry Bowl
For many years, we have participated in the Hungry Bowl Pet Food drive, a Pet Sitters International initiative, and we raised 13,850 pounds of dog/cat/rabbit food and litter for the Kingston Humane Society, as well as other animal rescues.
Land O’ Lakes Rescue Petting Farm
For 2 years we ran a pumpkin drive for Land O’ Lakes Rescue Petting Farm. With the support of Pet Valu Kingston and the Collins Bay Flea Market, we collected over 2,400 pounds of pumpkins to help feed their animals and create their own pumpkin patch.
Empties for Paws
For 4 years, as members of Empties for Paws, we raised over $15,368.12 by cashing in empties, also for the rescue farm. A special thank you to all our amazing clients, members of the community, and the entire neighborhood of Greenwood Park on the East side of Kingston, for their generous donations to this effort!
City Parks
Earth Rated poop bag company sponsored us to do a cleanup of the city’s dog parks by supplying poop bags.
I personally participated with a group of amazing people, who were the force behind Kingston getting dog parks, and helped by gaining signatures for our petitions and attending City of Kingston Committee and Council meetings.
During the City’s responsible pet ownership / banning the sale Committee talks, I wrote letters to Council advocating for the city to make changes to its licensing programs.
Community Donations
We have donated gift baskets and gift certificates to hundreds of local charities both human and animal.
